Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) is assisting students to further their education and careers in Utilities related technology degrees and operations in service to the Las Cruces community through an in-house internship opportunity.
Applicants were interviewed at the beginning of June, and three new interns were selected to receive educational scholarships. Interns will complete a designated Technology Program at Dona Ana Community College, as outlined in the LCU Internship Guideline.
Andy Gomez, Christopher Gomez, and Diego Pimentel Cardenas will be recognized at a signing ceremony at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in Las Cruces City Hall Council Chambers, 700 N. Main Street.
The internship program pays for housing, food, books, tuition, and other fees associated with the program and certifications. In addition, they will receive on the job training, employment of up to 20 hours of paid work per week while school is in session and 40 hours of paid work per week during the summer break and holidays. All have committed to working with LCU after graduation. The LCU Internship Program was implemented eight years ago and employs several graduates of the program. The internships ensure the continuation of reliable, safe, and customer-focused services for the City of Las Cruces community.
