These project represents a pivotal opportunity to transform sections of our city into thriving, pedestrian-friendly communities with a renewed focus on sustainable development and equitable growth. Our goals extend beyond revitalizing commercial and retail areas; they encompass a holistic approach to urban renewal that prioritizes infrastructure improvement, environmental sustainability, social equity, historic preservation, and public safety and health. Please participate when meetings arise in areas that impact you or when surveys become available because your input is vital to shaping the areas we are exploring to revitalize.

 
In 2022, the Economic Development Department worked with Groundworks Studios to assess the city’s Infill Area for potential Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA) designations. This extensive evaluation resulted in the Las Cruces MRA Boundary Designation Report, a key step in supporting targeted redevelopment efforts.
