The City of Las Cruces will close Triviz Drive at the intersection of Madrid Avenue for up to four weeks beginning Monday, August 4, 2025, to aid in the Madrid Avenue Extension reconstruction project. This closure will have several detours in place for those traveling on Triviz Drive and for those personnel conducting the work. Detour signage will be in place on Main Street, Triviz Drive, Solano Drive, Spruce Avenue, and Madrid Avenue.
The Madrid Avenue Extension reconstruction project includes the installation of a 14-inch water main at a depth of eight feet through the intersection. This work will also include the removal and disposal of existing asphalt, installation of the new water main, reworking the roadway base layers, new curb and gutter for transitions, and a new pavement section.
The full closure will allow these improvements to be completed with a reduced inconvenience to the public. Alternating lane closures would potentially add an additional four weeks to the project.
Roadrunner Transit will have an alternate route because of this closure.
