Front of Branigan Library at dusk.

Join us from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, as we celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Las Cruces Public Libraries. This special day marks the date that the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, the first public library in Las Cruces, opened in 1935

Come experience a variety of library programs throughout the day and discover our history! Events and special activities will continue throughout the day.

Special guests Mayor Eric Enriquez, Councilor Cassie McClure, and Quality of Life Director, Carol Brey, will begin their presentation at 2:30 pm. A reception hosted by library staff will follow, where participants can hear about the Branigan Library past, present and future! The reception will include light refreshments and cake.

When you finish celebrating with us, don’t forget to visit our friends at the Branigan Cultural Center to see their exhibit “Ninety Years of Las Cruces Public Libraries.” The exhibit will run until December 20, 2025.
