City of Las Cruces New Year’s Day Holiday Schedule

Please note there has been an update to the Dec 31, 2025 posting.
Natatorium will close at 11 a.m. *not 3 pm as previously posted (updated 1:25 p.m. 12/30/2025).

City Hall and most other City of Las Cruces offices will be closed Thurs., Jan. 1, 2026, for the New Year’s Day Holiday. Emergency services such as fire and police will not be affected. There will also be modifications for early closures on Wed., Dec. 31, 2025, for New Year’s Eve. Please see listing below for full details.

Schedule for Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (New Year’s Eve)

Early closure at 11 a.m.*

• Foothills Landfill – close at noon (residential and commercial collections will take place as normal)

Early closure at 2 p.m. (to accommodate Senior Programs and waste collection/recycling)

• South Central Solid Waste Authority Offices and Amador Transfer Station, Las Cruces Recycling Center, Corralitos Regional Landfill, Chaparral Collection Center, Dona Ana Community Centers – close at 2 p.m.

SOLID WASTE/SCSWA RECYCLING SERVICE

• No Commercial or Residential waste collections
  • Residential and Grappler collections Monday through Wednesday will run as normal, Thursday and Friday scheduled collections will be done on Friday January 2, 2026, beginning at 6 a.m. If all collection routes are not completed on Friday Jan. 2, they will be completed on Saturday Jan. 3, beginning at 6 a.m.
  • Commercial collections will run as follows:
    • Monday’s collections will be collected on Sunday Dec. 28 beginning at 6 a.m.
    • Tuesday’s collections will be collected on Monday Dec. 29 beginning at 6 a.m.
    • Wednesday’s collections will be collected on Tuesday Dec. 30 beginning at 6 a.m.
    • Thursday’s collections will be collected on Wednesday Dec. 31 beginning at 6 a.m.
    • No collections on Thursday Jan. 1, 2026, New Years Day
    • Friday collections will run as normal on Friday Jan. 2 beginning at 6 a.m.
    • Saturday collections will run as normal on Saturday Jan. 3

• Foothills Landfill – closed / (Foothills Landfill will resume normal business hours on Friday, January 2, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
• South Central Solid Waste Authority – No residential or Commercial recycling pickup on Thurs., Jan. 1, 2026/Instead Thursday and Friday pickups will occur on Fri., Jan. 2, 2026
