Las Cruces Utilities Internship Program Signs Three New Interns

Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) is pleased to announce the signing of three new interns.

Andy Gomez, Christopher Gomez, and Diego Pimentel were each recognized at a signing ceremony this afternoon in Las Cruces City Hall Council Chambers.

LCU will assist each student in furthering their education and careers in Utilities related technology degrees and operations.

Applicants were interviewed at the beginning of June, and Gomez, Gomez, and Pimentel were selected to receive educational scholarships. They will complete a designated Technology Program at Dona Ana Community College, as outlined in the LCU Internship Guideline.

The internship program pays for housing, food, books, tuition, and other fees associated with the program and certifications. In addition, they will receive on the job training, employment of up to 20 hours of paid work per week while school is in session and 40 hours of paid work per week during the summer break and holidays. All have committed to working with LCU after graduation. The LCU Internship Program was implemented eight years ago and employs several graduates of the program. The internships ensure the continuation of reliable, safe, and customer-focused services for the City of Las Cruces community.
