Peachtree Canyon Apartments

The City of Las Cruces will break ground Oct. 10 on Peachtree Canyon Apartments, a 144-unit affordable housing development on the East Mesa.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at the site of the apartment complex, near the corner of Peachtree Hills and Jornada Road.

“Together, we are building a brighter future and addressing the affordable housing needs of our community,” said Natalie Green, the City’s Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Administrator. “We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you.”

“Peachtree Canyon is a much-needed development in Las Cruces, and we look forward to the moment families are able to call this community their home,” said Isidoro Hernandez, Housing New Mexico Executive Director/CEO. “We appreciate all our partners who work together to create housing in all areas of the state.”

Peachtree Canyon Apartments is partially funded by a $23 million General Obligation Bond approved by voters in 2022. Additional assistance was made possible through a partnership between the New Mexico Housing and Community Development Corporation, the Thomas Development Group, the City of Las Cruces, the Housing New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority and Dona Ana County.

Total development cost for the project is $40,834,966.

Construction is expected to begin in November. The anticipated completion date is January 2026.

Peachtree Canyon Apartments will include 72 one-bedroom units, 60 two-bedroom units and 12 units with three bedrooms. Amenities will include pickleball courts, a swimming pool, age-appropriate playgrounds and a community building.
