
A fire damaged a mobile home and resulted in the death of a cat on Sunday afternoon.
Just after 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, Las Cruces firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on the 3600 block of Spitz Street. Crews arrived to find flames and heavy smoke emitting from a mobile home.
Firefighters were able to enter the home and bring the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries, but a cat was found to have perished in the fire.
The cause of the fire and damage estimates are still unknown.
