The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the City of Las Cruces Financial Services Department the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2024.
The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the highest standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
As of 2024, the City of Las Cruces has been presented with 21 consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (ACFR) Awards.
“I want to give full credit to the accountants in Accounting and Treasury who make this possible,” said Josie Treviño, Comptroller of the Financial Services Department. “During audit season, which runs from July through November, they don’t get to hit pause on their daily responsibilities. They continue to manage the city’s financial operations while simultaneously preparing for and supporting the audit process.”
