Community invited to participate in public meetings October 22 and 24.
The City of Las Cruces is continuing to work on an update to its Downtown Master Plan, the guiding framework for how the city’s central district grows and evolves. First adopted in the early 2000s and last updated in 2016, the plan has shaped much of downtown’s revitalization over the past decade. This year’s effort will build on that foundation, refining strategies based on what has changed, what’s working well, and where opportunities remain.
This week, the City and its planning consultant, PlaceMakers, have hosted public engagement activities. A workshop on Monday brought together residents, business owners, civic organizations, and City staff for a focused meetings and design sessions aimed at updating the Downtown Master Plan. The activities continue Wednesday morning with an Open House and a Closing Presentation on Friday.
“This update isn’t about starting over,” said Chris Faivre, Director, Community Development Director. “It’s about fine-tuning what we’ve already achieved and ensuring downtown continues to reflect the needs and character of Las Cruces.”
