Christine River - City Clerk

The City of Las Cruces is proud to announce that City Clerk Christine Rivera has been awarded the prestigious Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).

On behalf of its Board of Directors, IIMC formally notified Rivera of the achievement, recognizing her successful completion of the rigorous requirements necessary to earn the designation. The Master Municipal Clerk credential is granted only to municipal clerks who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to advanced education, professional development, and meaningful contributions to their local government, community, and state.

The organization applauded Rivera’s educational accomplishments and her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of the municipal clerk profession.

To earn the MMC designation, recipients must first hold the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) credential and maintain active membership in IIMC. Candidates must then complete a structured, step-by-step advancement process that includes:

  • Earning 60 points in advanced education, such as conferences, academies, and seminars
  • Earning 40 points in professional contributions, including mentoring, committee service, public speaking, or professional writing
  • Reaffirming adherence to the IIMC Code of Ethics
  • Submitting a formal application and required fee

All advanced education and professional contribution points must be earned after achieving the CMC designation.

This distinguished achievement reflects her dedication to professional growth and her continued commitment to excellence in serving the Las Cruces community.

The City of Las Cruces congratulates Christine Rivera on this significant milestone and recognizes the leadership and expertise she brings to the City Clerk’s Office.
