Las Cruces police are still asking for video evidence that might help investigators learn what led to Saturday’s shooting that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Lance Chavez and injuries to three teenagers during a large gathering on Bugatti Drive.
Shortly before midnight Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, Las Cruces police were dispatched to reports of multiple gunshots at a large gathering at a home on the 2400 block of Bugatti Drive. Officers arrived to find Chavez suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
Police also found a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital. Two other individuals with gunshot wounds, an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl, arrived at Mountainview Regional Medical Center shortly thereafter. Injuries to the three teenagers are believed to be non-life-threatening.
Detectives learned that several people attending the party were seen recording the incident on their cell phones. Investigators believe those videos could be critical in identifying suspects and understanding what led to the shooting.
Investigators urge anyone who captured video, or has information about the incident, to contact investigators. Video uploads can be submitted online.
