The City of Las Cruces is teaming up with New Mexico State University and New Mexico State Representative Angelica Rubio to bring you Ruedas Unidas/Wheels United, an exciting open streets event designed to get you moving and having fun!
The City of Las Cruces will close Solano Drive (from Wofford Drive to University Avenue) and close University Avenue (from Solano Drive to Espina Street) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
The closure will allow for residents to bike, run, skate, dance, exercise, and play freely and safely in the street. All ages, abilities, and wheels are welcome – whether you’re biking, skating, walking, using a wheelchair, or just cheering from the sidelines.
Decorate your wheels and join us for a bike parade and bike safety course or take part in other fun activities hosted by City departments and local non-profits. There will also be food vendors on site to help energize you to move much more.
Special Guest Mayor Eric Enriquez will host the annual Mayor’s Bike ride on this day. The route has yet to be determined, but it will conclude at the Reudas Unidas event at the corner of University Avenue and Solano Drive.
Mark your calendars and bring your family and friends for a day of active fun at Ruedas Unidas/Wheels United. This first of its kind event is more than just fun, it’s also about imagining what our streets could look like if built to include more pedestrians and bicyclists. Let’s come together to celebrate community, health, and movement!
