The City of Las Cruces and Las Cruces Public Schools are proud to announce a new partnership aimed at uplifting and recognizing students who demonstrate exemplary character in their schools. The joint initiative, themed “Thrive with Cariño,” combines the strengths of two community programs: “Thrive” and “Cariño.”

The Thrive program, implemented by the school district, seeks out creating an environment for students to excel, while the Cariño program, established by the City of Las Cruces, highlights City employees’ dedication to caring for the community.

Beginning in February 2025, students who exemplify the values of both “Thrive” and “Cariño” will be recognized. Selected students from elementary, middle, and high school levels will receive certificates of recognition, be celebrated on social media, and be awarded special t-shirts.

The first round of students to be honored will come from Booker T. Washington Elementary, Hermosa Heights Elementary, Lynn Middle School, and Centennial High School. The Mayor of Las Cruces and the Superintendent of Las Cruces Public Schools will recognize these students, reinforcing the commitment to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for all.
