Las Cruces motorists will experience shoulder work on N. Jornada Road from Engler Road heading north to the City limits beginning Monday, March 2, 2026, and lasting for three days. H & H Underground will be installing underground infrastructure for Comcast. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project, and motorists are urged to follow all posted signs. Roadrunner Transit routes and bus stops will not be affected.

Lane closures will begin on Hatfield Rd. from Moose Ct. to 500 feet west on Hatfield Rd. starting Monday, March 2, 2026, and are expected to continue for two weeks. City crews will be performing road construction at this location. Short-term road closures may occur, and Holliday Ln. will serve as a detour route. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project, and motorists are urged to follow all posted signs and prepare for possible delays. ARE Telecommunications will be installing underground infrastructure for Vexus Fiber as part of a utility permit. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project, and motorists are urged to follow all posted signs. Roadrunner Transit routes will not be affected. This work is being done in City Council District 2.

Residents and businesses on Calle del Sol from Avenida Blanco to Avenida de Mesilla will experience a water outage from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025. The outage will allow Spartan Construction of NM, LLC to complete water line tie-ins as part of the Casa Linda Acres Reconstruction CIP. Adjacent areas may also be affected. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, the contractor will post a door hanger notice at least 24 hours in advance. Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, City officials recommend waiting until the water becomes clear before washing laundry. The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in their home for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City at 575-526-0500 for assistance. The TTY phone number is 575-541-2182. The hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  A detour route will be provided to detour traffic through neighboring streets; we ask that you please follow the detour signage that will be installed.

A-Mountain Construction will be working on Phase 1 in the reconstruction of the N. Melendres St. Roadway Project; installation of storm drain inlets, pavement, curb and gutter, driveways, ADA ramps, sidewalks, street lighting, and utilities including water, sewer, and gas.

Las Cruces motorists are advised that South Valley Drive will experience a right turn lane closure on Monday, September 8, 2025, for one day. This closure will occur between Enterprise, 1340 S. Valley Drive, and Hickory Drive to allow J & E Utilities Service LLC to install a new water main underground by drilling beneath the roadway, minimizing disruption to traffic.

In addition to the one-day lane closure, shoulder work will take place at two locations on South Valley Drive from September 8 through September 19, 2025. The locations include S. The City of Las Cruces will close Triviz Drive at the intersection of Madrid Avenue for up to four weeks beginning Monday, August 4, 2025 to aid in the Madrid Avenue Extension reconstruction project. This closure will have several detours in place for those traveling on Triviz Drive and for those personnel conducting the work. Detour signage will be in place on Main Street, Triviz Drive, Solano Drive, Spruce Avenue, and Madrid Avenue. 

The Madrid Avenue Extension reconstruction project includes the installation of a 14-inch water main at a depth of eight feet through the intersection. This work will also include the removal and disposal of existing asphalt, installation of the new water main, reworking the roadway base layers, new curb and gutter for transitions, and a new pavement section.

The full closure will allow these improvements to be completed with a reduced inconvenience to the public. Alternating lane closures would potentially add an additional four weeks to the project. 

Roadrunner Transit will have an alternate route because of this closure.

Northbound commuters on Sonoma Ranch Blvd. between Lohman Ave. and Camino Lindo will experience a lane closure on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, and Thursday, July 24,2025.

H&H Underground will be installing underground utilities as part of a wire utility permit.

The work will be on Roadrunner Transit Route 2 but will not affect any bus stop locations. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project. Commuters are urged to follow all posted signs.

Triviz Drive is scheduled to be closed for approximately one month, tentatively beginning July 28, 2025, between Fairfax Avenue and Mulberry Avenue. A detour route will be in place to guide traffic around the construction zone.

The work will affect bus stop #29 on Roadrunner Transit Route 1. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project. Commuters are urged to follow all posted signs.

A roadway modification project will temporarily cause traffic signals at Avenida de Mesilla and Hickory Drive to be out of service and the intersection to be converted to a four-way stop.

Work on the project begins Monday, July 14, 2025, and is anticipated to last about two weeks. Renegade Construction will be making modifications to Hickory Drive and the traffic signal.

Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution and respect other drivers while navigating through the intersection.

Las Cruces motorists please be advised that Fiber Optic Installation will take place on Spruce Avenue and will experience intermittent lane closure for eastbound traffic from N. Walnut St. to N. Triviz Dr. Work. Installation will begin on July 14, 2025, and is expected to be completed by July 21, 2025.

Access to residences and businesses will be maintained and Roadrunner Transit will not be affected.  This work is being done in Council District 2 and 4.

Motorists who frequent Del Rey Boulevard will notice a temporary lane closure Thursday, July 10, at the intersection of Mars Avenue.

The lane closure is to allow H and H Underground to repair UPN fiber that was damaged.

The temporary lane closure is anticipated to last most of Thursday.

Las Cruces Motorists will experience shoulder work on S. Valley drive between 650 S. Valley Drive and Sequoia Ave. starting July 10 through July 16, 2025.

Cortez Drive Improvements (Between Porter Drive to Dunn Drive)

Dunn Drive will experience a road closure from Reynolds Drive to Aldrich Road continuing Tuesday July 8, 2025.

Caliper Construction will do work as part of the City of Las Cruces East Mesa Roads and Drainage. During construction, access to Dunn Drive will not be permitted to through traffic. The road closure will last approximately one month. Detours and signage will be present directing traffic around the work zone.

Motorists wishing to avoid possible delays are encouraged to seek alternative routes. Roadrunner Transit Route routes will not be affected.

Intermittent Road Closure Along Triviz Drive

A portion of Triviz Drive, between Entrada del Sol and Hadley Avenue, will experience temporary, intermittent closures between 10:30 a.m. and noon on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
