Cariño to: Armando Lopez, Architectural Mangement, Public Works

We wanted to share a special Cariño for Armando Lopez, one of our project managers, for an inspiring act of kindness over the weekend.

While on a day trip towards Hatch with his wife, Armando noticed hand movement in the bushes alongside the back Dona Ana Road. Without hesitation, he pulled over and discovered an older gentleman in his 60s trapped in barbed wire after losing control of his motorcycle on the way to Radium Springs. The man had serious injuries, including a deep gash on his arm and head.

Armando quickly sprang into action, creating a makeshift tourniquet, got him some shade using his vehicle visors, and with the help of his wife, called an ambulance to get the man the medical care he urgently needed.

This selfless act perfectly embodies the City of Las Cruces’ motto “Adelante con Cariño” — moving forward with care and compassion. Armando’s willingness to help a stranger in need is a powerful example of the values we all strive to uphold.

Please consider this Cariño for Armando’s exceptional character and commitment to community spirit!
