Cariño to Annette Granado, Executive Assistant, City Manager’s Office

This past weekend, there was a lot of chaos from the tragedy of Friday night’s violence at Young Park. We visited the park on Saturday around noon where we saw all the law enforcement still conducting the investigation.

Annette started saying how she wished there was something she could do, so she reached out to Police Chief Story and asked if they needed anything: food, water, drinks. Chief said that would probably be good and gave her a point of contact.

Without hesitation she contacted the acting officer in charge and agreed that lunch would be very good as most of the officers had been there for a long time. A quick phone call to a local restaurant and 30 meals were ordered followed by a trip to the store for water and other drinks to deliver back to all the personnel on site.

This is just one of the amazing things Annette has done. Most of what she does goes without anyone knowing. She’s thrown an elderly lady’s trash because the grappler didn’t pick it up, bought supplies for individuals who couldn’t find toilet paper during covid and delivered it, picked up a lady and took her to vote because she didn’t have a ride, bought a homeless man hygiene products and underclothes to shower and change for an interview he had.

I could keep going on about all the things she does and all the wild ideas and road trips she’s involved me in and taken me on just because she feels like she can be that one bright spot in someone’s day or life. I don’t know, I may be a little biased, but she does some pretty amazing things and sometimes even some things that make me scratch my head and say, “Are you sure about that?” I just want her to know that all her good deeds do not go unnoticed.

From,

Mike Rosales, Project Manager, Public Works
