The recent transition within the Fleet Department has been a positive change. All staff members and sections have demonstrated exceptional cooperation in meeting the operational needs of the Police Department. I am sincerely grateful to every team within the Fleet Department, as it truly takes a collective effort to maintain seamless operations and minimize vehicle downtime, ensuring officers remain on the road.
I would like to extend special recognition to the mechanics for their outstanding commitment. Their ability to keep our fleet operational, whether through tire changes, towing vehicles for service, or providing timely repairs, has been instrumental in supporting our mission. Additionally, their willingness to explain the root causes of issues and recommend preventive measures or solutions reflects their professionalism and dedication.
Recently, we faced the challenge of preparing 24 vehicles for officers completing field training. These inspections and repairs were essential to guarantee safety and roadworthiness, all while managing the ongoing maintenance of other city vehicles. This effort occurred during a period when many employees were on holiday leave and fulfilling use or lose time-off requirements. Despite these constraints, the mechanics successfully met the demand and ensured vehicles were ready by the deadline. Their work enabled officers to complete training, transition into their assigned units, and become familiar with the vehicles they will rely on daily.
Once again, I extend my deepest appreciation to the entire Fleet Department and every section involved in keeping our operations running smoothly. Your dedication and teamwork make a significant difference.
