Cycle of the Wild

Digital painting of two goats in the center and various other animals along the border.

Title: Cycle of the Wild

Artist: Carolina Cardenas

Future Bus Shelter Location: University Ave. and Jordan Rd. (Across from bookstore) (Pending installation)

Description: The piece is a digital painting that represents the cycle of life between the animals of the region –both wild and domesticated. Time does not stop for anyone or anything, so these animals are always moving forward towards survival in their surroundings. From the snake and the hare fighting out in the desert land to the sheep and goats found within farms being hand fed, they will continue to go and make choices that guarantee they live to see another morning within this modern developing world.

Artist Statement: Within the art I create, I tend to include connections and stories through multidisciplinary mediums like ceramics, painting, and sculptures –though at times I like to create mixed media pieces. As a growing artist currently in NMSU’s BA program in Studio Art and Psychology, I am still exploring and building onto the theme and art I want to create. From portraying my own interpretation of human connections to simply expanding my own obsession with sheep and goats, my art invites the audience to see how I view the world of relationships from platonic and romantic to the natural and unnatural world.
