Chicken Power

Title: Chicken Power

Artist: Ame Alamag

Future Bus Shelter Location: Water St. @ EPEC (Pending Location)

Description: The “INTERWOVEN” series of work is characterized by a primarily flat surface with and a distinct custom hand-textured frame. Imagery is defined by carved grooves and often features overlapping or contrary profiles. Ame draws, writes and paints the imagery. Mitch builds and patterns the framework and applies details and finishes. The 2-dimensional style is drawn with a liquid gold pen on a black background, then drawn with colored pencil and painted with acrylic. Finally, the entire surface is coated with a high-gloss clear acrylic resin. The 3-dimensional style is carved where drawn and shaped pieces of wood and ceramic are added. It is then painted with acrylic and coated with a medium-gloss clear acrylic. The frames are textured and patterned with acrylic medium, painted and clear coated.

Artist Statement: Rokoko is the collaboration of artists Ame and Mitch Alamag. A.me’s art is born from her desire to create a world of peace and love. What keeps her going is playing “make-believe” as an adult. Her hope is that the viewer’s connection with the work creates a new, greater vision, celebrating a positive expression of life. Mitch’s art evolves from the need to express his inner nature through structure and pattern. His use of color, shape and repetition create unique rhythms that resonate in physical form.
