Biography

Raised in Las Cruces by an engineer and a teacher, Michael grew up to be a lifelong learner, creator, and problem solver. He studied Mechanical Engineering at NMSU before graduating with a degree in Computer Science. He then received a fellowship from the National Science Foundation to complete a Master’s Degree in Computer Science while working with local middle school teachers on integrating CS topics into science curriculum.
After college, Michael co-founded Las Cruces-based Visgence, Inc., a technology services company that provides computer network engineering, software development, and product development in a wide variety of industries, including education, biology, electric utilities, telecommunications, and AI.
In his work and hobbies, Michael enjoys creating, whether the project is welding, woodworking, blacksmithing, or gardening. As a board member at Cruces Creatives and co-founder and mentor for the Project N.E.O. Robotics Team 1164, Michael continues to support creative and positive activities for the next generation.

All powers of the city shall be vested in the council, except as otherwise provided by law or this Charter, and the council shall provide for the exercise thereof and for the performance of all duties and obligations imposed on the city by law.
